GIFCT Statement on Thailand Shooting

On Saturday, February 8, 2020, a soldier shot and killed at least 20 people at a shopping mall in Korat, Thailand. The perpetrator livestreamed a video of only himself, but at this time no online video from the attacker has been detected that includes imagery of the violence in the attack.

Accordingly, the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT) has not declared at this time a content incident protocol. For more on the GIFCT’s CIP process, see this link.

GIFCT member companies are addressing the perpetrator video and associated content in accordance with individual company policies and procedures.

The GIFCT expresses its deepest sympathies to the victims of this horrific attack, their families and the people of Thailand.
