Scott Storrie is a Deputy Director in the Homeland Security Group in the UK Home Office. He is responsible for counter-radicalisation, including the analytical understanding and the policy interventions available to the government. Central to this is Scott’s work with the tech sector, participating in coordinated, international efforts to suppress terrorist exploitation of the internet. This includes cooperation with large and small companies on a bilateral basis to improve their policies and capabilities to reduce the availability and credibility of terrorist and violent extremist content online, as well as a partnership with non-governmental organisations and multilateral forums such as the Christchurch Call to Action and GIFCT – for which Scott is the UK’s representative on the Independent Advisory Committee.
Scott has worked in counter-terrorism and national security for more than 15 years, across a number of government departments and agencies. This work has included crisis response, operations, legislation, and diplomatic experience. In his last role, before taking up his current post, Scott led the team that wrote the UK Government’s counter-terrorist strategy, CONTEST 2023.
