The Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT) is excited to announce that the Extremism and Gaming Research Network (EGRN) has formally joined the Global Network on Extremism and Technology (GNET), GIFCT’s academic research arm, as part of its expanding research portfolio.

GNET, housed within the Centre for Statecraft and National Security at King’s College London, brings together the technology industry, government, civil society, and academia to foster collaboration and information-sharing to counter terrorist and violent extremist activity online.

The development marks an important step in strengthening research capacity on violent extremism-related issues in digital environments. By bringing EGRN under the GNET umbrella, GIFCT and its community of global multi-stakeholders will now have greater access to insights and collaborative efforts focused on key issues at the intersections of gaming, online subcultures, and violent extremism online.

GIFCT is proud to support GNET’s commitment to providing specialist, high-quality research on evolving violent extremist threats and the digital ecosystems in which they emerge.
